The story of Lily’s Little Cupboard is not so different from most small stationery biz owners – it came from a love of all things paper that grew into something more. More to the point, though, I wanted to fix one big problem I had–my handwriting is absolute garbage. No, really, it’s awful. Every time I looked at a scrapbook layout or a planner page I made, my scrawl stared back at me like the world’s biggest zit. And then I discovered a certain planner that came with stickers in the back of it–you know the one.
Fast forward a couple years and a whole lot of life changes, including the birth of my second child and leaving my long-time corporate job, and I was looking for ways to customize my planner to minimize my handwriting. I dusted off my old Silhouette SD and learned to cut my own stickers. I got more consistent and confident at it, and all the while the world around me was filling up with Etsy sticker and planner shops. With nothing to lose except maybe a little pride, I threw my stickers into the mix and opened shop in June 2015. Maybe my mom would be my only customer ever, I had no idea.
It turns out my mom was indeed my first customer but she wasn’t my last. Lily’s Little Cupboard has been growing slow and steady over the years, and I’ve added several new stationery and stationery-adjacent products over the years. But the best part is being part of the amazing planner community. So many amazing planner-people have encouraged and supported me over the years, and if I’ve done anything right, I hope I’ve done the same for them–maybe even you, dear reader.
Come hang out with me! The best place to find me is in my Facebook group, but I’m also on Instagram, and of course I’m a member of the PBC group.
